Failing the class tenth examination left Naresh in low spirits and rejection by family members. Thrashed and locked up in a room, he got an unknown courage to face all odds and start selling fancy candles and cloth in streets nearby. The determination also instilled into him a certain sense of responsibility. When everyone thought that he had ruined his life, Naresh did what he was good at – business.
Changing his unfortunate turn of events into a stepping stone to future success, Naresh put his heart and soul into selling candles and cloth. Trying to be a master at both trades, Naresh also gave business tips to his father.
The parental pressure of being educated made Naresh go back to studies. After a few attempts, Naresh graduated in Political Science, and started to work as a lecturer at Aptech. To pursue post graduation, Naresh joined the RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, for which he was misinformed and duped by an agent. Realizing that he would not survive with the money in hand, Naresh slept on benches on the streets and washed dishes at restaurants for a living. He soon met many people who were duped by such unscrupulous agents. This actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it struck him that a good service to guide the Indian students to join the universities abroad would be an excellent business opportunity.
Now the founder and CEO of Oceanic Consultants and the winner of the Australian Business Award for Enterprise, Naresh Gulati is a true example of how perseverance, dedication and devotion helps in achieving what one truly believes in.
